I am taking a class on modern decorating styles and I’m currently knee deep in art deco. We have weekly assignments and one of our last projects is to research and present 2014 decorating trends. I haven’t done the work yet but I have been looking for a new living room rug and my inkling is that overdyed rugs are the shizzle right now. I know that’s what I want for my space.

These rugs range from traditional to modern, to somewhere in between and I’m loving the flexibility of them, as well as the deeply saturated colours they come in. The price however I am not loving but I was lucky enough to find one for 70% off which fits my budget. My husband would say: “that just means it was 70% overpriced before”…but I’m excited, especially since our cat officially did in our white shag with a triple puke attack!

Here are pictures of some lovelies:

This is the one I just ordered. Never bought a rug online before, fingers crossed it works.

How amazing is this room. Window or digital screen on the wall there?

Notice all the blue? Pantone may have named "radiant orchid" the colour of the year but navy or indigo blue are big this year.

Like the look? Some great sources for overdyed rugs are Rugsusa, Ikea, and for vintage overdyed rugs, etsy. I wonder if there is any similar trending in fashion? I’ll have to ask my fashion savvy sister.
